Mushroom Dosage Guide

Dosage can play an important role in shaping an experience. This guide is educational in nature and should not be interpreted as medical advice.

Important context

Educational, not prescriptive

Dosage is one part of a larger spiritual and educational journey. This guide offers commonly discussed ranges as context, not as instructions. Intention, preparation, setting, community support, and integration all help shape how an experience is understood.

Dosage spectrum

Commonly discussed ranges

From subtle to immersive

These ranges are shown as a spectrum because experiences do not always fit neatly into categories. They are best read alongside preparation, setting, and integration.

Educational reference only

Microdose

0.1–0.25g mushrooms

0.7–1.75mg psilocybin

Subtle effects that may support presence, awareness, and day-to-day reflection without significantly altering perception.

Low Dose

0.25–0.75g mushrooms

1.75–5mg psilocybin

Light perceptual and emotional shifts that may encourage curiosity, creativity, and introspection.

Museum Dose

0.75–2g mushrooms

5–14mg psilocybin

A range often associated with heightened sensory awareness, appreciation, and connection while remaining engaged with the surrounding environment.

Moderate Dose

2–3.5g mushrooms

14–25mg psilocybin

A deeper inward experience that may include emotional insight, expanded awareness, and meaningful personal reflection.

High Dose

3.5–5g mushrooms

25–35mg psilocybin

A powerful experience often associated with profound shifts in perception, spiritual exploration, and deep introspection.

Heroic Dose

5g+ mushrooms

35+mg psilocybin

An intense and immersive experience that may include ego-transcendent or mystical states. This range is often approached with significant preparation, intention, and support.

Experience varies

A range is not the whole story.

Individual sensitivity, mushroom potency, mindset, environment, and preparation can all shape the experience. A smaller amount may feel significant for one person, while another person may relate differently to the same range. TLC frames dosage as context within a broader practice of intention, discernment, and care.

The question is not only “how much?” It is also “why, where, with whom, and how will this be integrated?”

Factors that influence experience

What surrounds the number matters.

Individual sensitivity

People may respond differently even when the same range is discussed. Past experience, body awareness, emotional state, and personal history can all matter.

Mushroom potency

Natural materials can vary. A number on a scale does not tell the whole story of strength, freshness, variety, or how a person may respond.

Mindset and intention

The inner posture someone brings into an experience can shape what comes forward. Intention offers a point of orientation without trying to control the outcome.

Environment and support

Lighting, sound, privacy, trusted people, and a grounded setting can influence whether an experience feels spacious, safe, or overwhelming.

Preparation and timing

Rest, schedule, emotional readiness, and the absence of unnecessary pressure can all support a more thoughtful approach.

Integration afterward

Meaning often continues to unfold after the experience itself. Reflection, conversation, and gentle practice can help insights become more grounded.

Preparation matters

Begin before the experience begins.

Preparation gives the experience a container. Before focusing on range alone, consider intention, timing, physical setting, emotional readiness, trusted support, and the responsibilities that come with sacred practice.

Integration matters

The meaning continues afterward.

Integration is the grounded work of making sense of what surfaced. Journaling, rest, conversation, community support, and ordinary daily practice can help an experience become part of a larger path rather than a single isolated event.
